Dr. Fiona Perrott-Humphrey –BA (Natal) MBA (Wits) DBL (UNISA)
Born in Egoli, South Africa “the City of Gold”, Dr Fiona Perrott-Humphrey spent six years in financial journalism and academia in South Africa before moving to the UK in 1986. For the next 17 years Fiona was consistently rated as one of the top investment analysts in mining for major financial institutions in the City of London, ending up as Head of European Mining Research for SSMB, part of Citigroup. In 2003, Fiona set up her own consultancy to continue her favourite aspects of a mining analyst’s job. In 2006 she formed AIM Mining Research and together with ex AngloGoldAshanti C.O.O. David Hodgson and geologists Gordon Wylie, Peter Mellowship and Jan-Marten Huizenga, has published “Understanding Junior Miners”. The book aims to help investors, fund managers and AIM mining companies understand the specialist geological and mining issues facing early stage juniors in order to interrogate and analyse them. She continues her role as adviser to Chairmen, Non exec’s and CEO’s of mining companies particularly in relation to investor perceptions and strategy. Fiona was on the board of Dominion Diamonds, with operations in northern Canada, for two years until December 2015. She fits in her consulting work, including two days a week with NM Rothschild, around hiking, gardening and travel.

Born on a South African diamond mine and nicknamed ‘Pebbles’, David Hodgson was a DeBeers scholarship holder for six years. His ‘reward’ was to work at Oranjemund in Namibia on beach and marine diamond mining, and in 1982 commissioned the Jwaneng mine in Botswana. David then transferred back to gold and by 2000, was responsible for all AngloGold South African mines. From 2001 until retirement in 2005, David was Executive Director of AngloGold Ashanti and the Chief operating officer responsible for 22 mines in 11 countries on 4 continents, producing 6 million oz. of gold annually from a vast range of orebody types and mining methods. These days, when David isn’t battling to regain a single-figure handicap or busying himself as a non-executive, he can be found listening to music and relaxing with his wife and three daughters at his beach house ‘on the best bay of the world’.
Since retirement, David has held non-executive directorships at Moto Gold Mines, Uranium One, Goliath Gold Mining, Montero Mining and Exploration, and Acacia Mining. He is currently a director at Osino Resources.
